Why we named the company Kentron

For two years the company was, in practice, called Healthixio. That was the first product, the one that paid the salaries, and the name most customers knew us by. By the middle of 2026 we also had a pathology product, a CRM used by ERP channel partners, gym software waiting for its first customers, and a steady line of custom projects. A hospital brand on a CRM invoice confuses everyone, including the accountant.

So we needed a name for the company that sits behind the products. This is how we chose it.

What we wanted from a name

• Short. Two syllables if possible, three at most.
• Easy to say in Hindi and English without anyone being corrected.
• Not tied to one industry. We build for hospitals, labs, sales teams and gyms, and next year it may be something else.
• A real word with a real meaning, not an invented blend that means nothing.
• Available as a .com, because customers still type it.

That last constraint eliminates most real words in English. It turns out it does not eliminate many in Greek.

What kentron means

Kentron (κέντρον, pronounced KEN-tron) is an ancient Greek noun. Its earliest meaning was a sharp point: the goad used to drive an ox, the sting of a bee, the spike at the end of a staff. It comes from the verb kentein, to prick.

Greek geometers gave the word a second life. When you draw a circle with a compass, one leg stays fixed while the other moves. The fixed leg leaves a small pricked point in the middle of the page. That point is the kentron, and from it the word came to mean the centre of a circle. Euclid uses it in exactly that sense.

The Romans borrowed it as centrum. Latin passed it to French as centre, and French passed it to English. Every time you say centre, central or concentrate, you are using a word that started as a compass point in Greek. The Armenian word for centre, կենտրոն, is the same borrowing.

The point stays still. The circle is drawn around it.

Why that fits us

A parent company is supposed to be the fixed point. The products are circles drawn from it: different radii, different customers, the same centre. What the centre holds is not a logo. It is the things that should not vary from product to product: how we model data, how we handle a hospital's patient records, how we answer the phone when something breaks at nine at night, what we charge and whether we publish it.

Healthixio, Pathixio, Biznixio and Gymnixio each have a different radius. Healthixio is the largest circle by far, with more than five hundred hospitals on it. Gymnixio is a small circle still being drawn. They share the same centre, and that is what the company name is for.

There is also the older meaning, the goad, which we like more than we admit. A goad is the thing that makes the ox move. Most software we replace is not broken; it is slow, and everyone has stopped noticing. A little prick in the right place helps.

What changes and what does not

The products keep their names and their websites. Healthixio stays at healthixio.com, Pathixio at lab.healthixio.com, Biznixio at margservice.in and Gymnixio at gym.healthixio.com. Support numbers do not change. Over the coming months, contracts, invoices and policies will carry the Kentron Technologies name, and the team you deal with will be the same people.
